PineCone, the Piedmont Council of Traditional Music, was launched in 1984 to preserve, present, and promote traditional music in the Triangle. The 501(c)3 nonprofit annually hosts a series of Down Home Concerts at the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts as well as jams, workshops, and youth programs around Wake County. PineCone was the engine behind long-running festival IBMA Bluegrass Live on the streets of downtown Raleigh and will build on those traditions with a new festival, Raleigh Wide Open.
