Two-time GRAMMY Award-winning vocalist Gregory Porter is coming to Raleigh, joined by acclaimed keyboardist and singer Jarrod Lawson. Together, the pair bring their distinct voices — Porter's soulful baritone and Lawson's Stevie Wonder-inspired soul — to the historic Raleigh stage.
GREGORY PORTER is a two-time GRAMMY Award-winning singer-songwriter whose rich baritone and deep roots in jazz, soul and gospel have made him one of his generation's most celebrated vocalists. Raised in Bakersfield, California on his mother's Nat King Cole records and the sound of Southern gospel, Porter first sang in San Diego jazz clubs while on a football scholarship at San Diego State University before moving to New York to pursue music full time. His 2013 Blue Note debut, Liquid Spirit, became a global phenomenon and earned him his first GRAMMY, with NPR declaring him “America's Next Great Jazz Singer”; his 2016 follow-up, Take Me to the Alley, brought a second GRAMMY win. Porter's catalog also includes the tribute album Nat King Cole & Me, the GRAMMY-nominated All Rise, Still Rising and his first holiday record, Christmas Wish. He received the 2025 Edison Jazz Lifetime Achievement Award. For more info, visit gregoryporter.com. (Follow on Instagram: @gregoryportermusic, X: @GregoryPorter)
JARROD LAWSON is a Nashville-based composer, keyboardist and singer whose sound draws on the social and spiritual sensibilities of Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway. Raised in Redwood City, California and later Oregon, Lawson grew up surrounded by music in his father's home recording studio and went on to study music in college, singing in chamber choir and jazz ensemble. His accolade-garnering, self-titled 2014 debut earned a longstanding affiliation with the UK's Dome Records and a Jazz FM Soul Artist of the Year award, and his 2020 follow-up, Be the Change, reached Billboard's Contemporary Jazz chart. As a vocalist, he has been favorably compared to Al Jarreau and Mark Murphy. For more info, visit jarrodlawson.com. (Follow on X: @JLawSings)
